MEET YOUR COACHES

Alex Fatovic

Alex Fatovic, our Boys Travel Coordinator and Assistant Coach with Marshall University, has run the gambit of positions within WVFC. Alex, a current player development committee member, got his start in the club with WVSC as the marketing and sponsorship coordinator in 2012, took over as the club Admin in 2013 and helped spearhead the merge with WV Chaos in 2014. After the inception of WVFC, Alex was the club admin until just this past spring, helping the club to 21 state cup's over that time. He has now transitioned into just focusing on developing the boys side of WVFC.  
 
Fatovic, in addition to his roles with in WVFC, assists in all aspects of administration for the Marshall men's program including recruiting, video analysis, team travel, day to day operations, camps and clinics administration, and fundraising.

 

Fatovic currently holds a USSF B License, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and a USSF National Youth License.

Petsa Ivanovic

Petsa is from Serbia where he played for an academy from the ages 12-18. In 2010 Petsa moved to Jacksonville University of Florida and graduated in 2011. He also played for WV Chaos PDL team from 2009 to 2016. He joined the UC men's soccer program in 2008 and is a volunteer assistant coach at Marshall University Men's soccer program now. He has been coaching since 2008, first at CFC, then at Chaos and now 3 years at WVFC winning 5 state cup championships in total. He was an assistant coach at the University of Charleston men's soccer program from 2012 to 2014, as well as ODP 2000 boys head coach. Petsa holds a USSF E qualification and says "I coach because I love the game and I love passing the knowledge and developing young people both as soccer players and as leaders off the field. My favorite part is watching my players succeed and learn." 

Kimberly D'Angelo

Kimberly D’Angelo is a native of Long Island, New York and found her way to West Virginia by The University of Charleston (UC).   While playing at UC, D’Angelo lettered all four years as an All-Conference or All-Region selection as well as being named the WVIAC Freshman of the Year.  She was the first women's soccer player at UC to earn the award. D’Angelo served as captain her junior and senior year as well. As a center mid, D’Angelo earned Offensive Player of the Week Honors multiple times. D'Angelo went on to become Assistant Coach of the women's program while perusing her MBA. In her time coaching at UC, the women's soccer team made their first and second NCAA appearances, first Sweet 16 appearance, two conference championship appearances, and saw the programs first Top 25 national ranking. 

 

D’Angelo is actively involved in youth coaching for the West Virginia Futbol Club, where she has coached both girls and boys, age groups ranging from U8-U18. Most recently, D'Angelo now coaches on the girls side in The WVFC Academy as the 2008/2009 coach as well as the 2005 girls coach.

Chris Bohach

Chris Bohach was a high school graduate of Capital High School. Chris was awarded Gatorade Player of the Year in West Virginia in 2003. He later went on to attend Wingate University where he was a 4 year starter and Foodlion's SAC Player of the Year in 2007. Chris  played in the PDL with the WV Chaos from 2003-2011. Chris currently holds a USSF D and a Advanced National Diploma.

Mark Conely

Mark was born and raised in St. Louis Mo. He played as a youth for the CYC, Catholic Youth Counsel through college and played at Maryville University. He has also played for a few different clubs and won one state championship. He holds a USSF D license and has been coaching in WV for 24 years at multiple clubs that currently make up WVFC. DOC of the WV ODP. He says "I love coaching, it allows for a platform to teach life lessons. Sport is so important to growth and development of our youth."

Kevin Long

Kevin is the current Head Coach of the Marshall University Women's Soccer Program. He is also a coach in WVFC and a PDC Member. Long is an Olympic Development Program (ODP) Region I Senior Staff member where he coaches and trains teams to compete at the national level. Additional duties as senior staff member include selecting the regional team, training, coaching in competitions and promoting players to the national level in the Under-14 age group.From 1993 until 1998, he served as district and state head coach in Virginia, selecting teams, scheduling games and practices, attending and assisting with the Regional Selection Camp.

 

Long has been part of the NSCAA since 1998, United States Soccer Federation (USSF) since 1994, and the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) since 2003.

Also, he has received the NSCAA “Advanced National” diploma in 1999 and in 1996, certified with the United States Soccer Federation “B” License. Long has been involved with different camps and clinics. He is Director of the Kevin Long Soccer Academy (2004), and numerous others up and down the east coast throughout the years.

Erika Duncan

Erika is originally from Scotland, she moved to the US in 2007 to play soccer at Marshall University. From here she is now Assistant Coach for Marshall Women's Soccer. Before coming to the states she played in Scottish Premier League and for u17, u19 and women's national teams. Holding a USSF D License, Erika has been coaching for 7 years in total. She began coaching club in 2010 for WVSC and has been with WVFC since the merge. She tells us "Coaching soccer is the next best thing to playing the game. I love being on the pitch providing young players an opportunity to learn the great game that gave me and continues to give me so much." 

Drew Sutler

Drew is a long time member of WVFC who grew up playing soccer in West Virginia as part of the rowdies soccer club. He has returned to the soccer community in a coaching role and has been a part of WVFC since the inception of the club. Drew has children in the club and he has overseen the development of the current 2007 boys team.

He is a licensed USSF coach and works in the banking industry. 

Peyton Miller

Peyton is in her third year on the Marshall University Women's Soccer team. Her playing days also include playing amateur professional for a team in Ohio, The Columbus Eagles. Prior to college, she played club for Ohio Premier in the ECNL. She holds an E License and has provided individual training sessions for youth soccer players for four years. She has been coaching for three years, two of which at WVFC and says "I coach because I enjoy seeing the pride in young athletes faces when they figure out a new skill or something I've been showing them about the game finally clicks. I like knowing that I can pass what I've learned on to others"

Shinya Turley

Shinya is from Japan, he came to the US in 2004 and has been coaching for 8 years, 4 years at WVFC. His playing history includes playing for Alderson-Broaddus University for 4 years and PDL team WV Chaos. He holds a USSF B License and says "Love the game and want to pass along the knowledge and passion for the game to the next generation of soccer players."

Daniel Smee

Daniel is currently an Assistant Coach with the Division II National Champions, the University of Charleston. He has college coaching experience with UC, West Virginia Wesleyan College (WVWC), Lees-McRae College and Slippery Rock University. He has club coaching experience in the UK and in the Charleston area with a number of clubs, he holds a USSF E License, as well as an FA Level Two coaching badge.

 

Daniel played collegiately with WVWC and was a three-year captain as well as an Athletic and Academic All-American during his time there. Prior to WVWC, Daniel played in the Scottish Premier League for Gretna FC.

Brian Shields

Originally from Long Island, New York, Brian played collegiately at University of Mobile. He currently holds a USSF D License and is a long time member of the WV ODP State coaching staff.  He was named 2016 WVSA ODP coach of the year. He has coached both boys and girls on  every level of youth soccer in this area for over 20 years. He is currently coaching within the WVFC Academy focusing on the 2009 Boys group.
