Welcome to the WVFC Academy,
The philosophy of the WVFC Academy is to give our young soccer players the best possible developmental opportunity in preparation for the rest of their soccer experience. The WVFC Academy program staff will focus on enhancing our player’s development; which includes the technical enhancement of each player’s soccer specific footwork, their technical ability and their overall enjoyment of the game. Our aim is to make all of our academy players comfortable with a ball at their feet and to create technically sound and creative soccer players while also harboring a love for the game that will last the rest of their lives.
Players of academy age are able to absorb positive habits and attitudes which create fantastic platforms for excellent development further down the soccer road. It enables coaches to develop a fun and positive atmosphere to develop creative, skillful players. At WVFC, we stress player development as opposed to results within our Academy Program. It is important at the academy age that more significance is put on the technical and tactical development of the player rather than a “win at all cost” mentality that can frankly sometimes hamper a player’s development.
WVFC Academy is dedicated to providing a great training environment for our young players. To achieve this, we have produced a special curriculum for each age group and level of player, based around our Academy method of coaching and philosophy. This learning process is achieved through technical skills development as well as small sided games and free play. Our coaching staff members are licensed coaches with experience in technical development. WVFC Academy is proud to play a part in the development and success of the West Virginia Futbol Club.
We have worked diligently to provide locations throughout the region with the possibility of attending up to four sessions per week. Our hope is to create a wonderful soccer environment that enables development, to instill in players a great passion and love for the game, and to allow our staff coaches to work collaboratively with many players. We believe that we will see players improve at greater rates in a fun and a positive environment. Our WVFC staff is confident that your child will thrive in a setting that encourages creativity and skill rather than one that is focused on results and winning.
